COMMON PAIN RELIEVER CAUSE LIVER DAMAGE
Dr. Sean Reif D.C.

Researchers tracked more than 300 acute liver failure patients and found 38% of the de-livered souls got that way in some measure by means of Tylenol and similar acetaminophen product consumption. In a related study that followed 307 adults with severe liver injury, 35% of them were linked to acetaminophen consumption.

The link between liver damage and acetaminophen was first reported three decades ago. By the 1980’s, the risks of combining alcohol and acetaminophen were well known, and alcoholics were warned away from taking even low doses of acetaminophen.

We should be diligent in educating the public and physicians about the risks associated with acetaminophen because it’s common for people to reach for a bottle without thinking about the complications. Even people who are not alcoholics but who consume alcohol before or after taking acetaminophen can experience liver damage.

Our free monthly e-newsletter is designed to be used as a resource for our patients in discovering and empowering them to make the best choices for their health and wellbeing.

Announcement
August is Headache awareness month at Montpelier Family Chiropractic

There are many different types of headaches. Some of the more common types are: tension, sinus, and migraines. What type of headache you have will determine how it is treated. We know from your perspective what matters is you hurt and you want relief. Our focus is to ease your pain as quickly and safely as we can.

Pain relievers may be convenient in easing pain, but they simply mask the symptoms and don’t address what may be the root cause of your headache. Factors in a headache can include physical trauma, emotional and/or mental stress, eye strain, nutritional deficiencies, environmental stressors or chemical toxins. Sometimes a combination of these factors can be responsible for your headache.

We will take several approaches to the treatment of your headache. Chiropractic will work to realign your cervical column. Subluxations in this area can produce what feels like a tension headache. Massage will be used to address muscular tension and sinus pressure. Pressure points can be activated to help relieve pain and pressure. Nutritional supplements can aid in deficiencies and we can guide you in determining what toxins may be present that are factors in your headaches. We also have essential oils available that can be helpful in relieving your tension and pain.

At Montpelier Family Chiropractic we will not tell you “take 2 aspirin and call us in the morning”. We will work with you to resolve your headaches so you can live the way everyone deserves to live – pain free.
