Can Chiropractic Care Help With Sciatica?
ezinearticles

Intense pain in different body parts due to compression and irritation of spinal nerve roots is termed as Sciatica.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. It originates in the spinal cord and runs down through the buttocks and into the legs. Sometimes, a trauma can occur. The trauma may not be severe or even noticeable, but it causes the discs between the vertebrae to bulge. This creates crowding and pressure on the sciatic nerve, which then radiates down into the leg. Due to the size of the nerve, this is extremely painful and can make walking, sitting, standing, and lying down painful.

Symptoms include pain in lower back, pain, weakness and numbness in legs and feet, buttocks pain etc.

The feeling of "pins and needles", having tingling feeling and having difficulty in moving the lower portion of the body are also the symptoms of sciatica. Pain is generally present in lower back region and legs area.

It is caused by mal positioning of body joints which increases pressure on nerves, and causes pain in body. Sciatica may also be caused by an injury. If a person falls on his hips or pelvis, it might cause stress on the nerves that can lead to sciatica.

There are various treatment procedures for sciatica depending on the situation. Some patients feel relieved by medication only, while some patients require surgery. While the medication helps in relieving pain, it cannot resolve the problem if the pain is caused by structural dis balance. Surgery can resolve this problem but it is a complicated procedure and medication may also have some side effects on the body.

On the other hand chiropractic sessions may help a person to a great extent. Chiropractic treatments generally includes spinal x-ray, followed by chiropractic adjustment and physical therapy.

If the pain is caused by structural compression, then a chiropractic adjustment is the only way that you can get relief from the pain

It is a natural procedure and does not cause any side effects, multiple session of chiropractic adjustment may relieve a person from pain in the body. The effects of this treatment are immediate and improvement in each session is observed. Unlike medicines, the effects of chiropractic treatment are long lasting, the process may be gradual, but with proper sessions of chiropractic adjustment, permanent relief from pain is achieved.

Chiropractic treatment is a natural and reliable method for treating Sciatica, and ensures long lasting effect. A person experiencing pain should consult a local licensed chiropractor in the area to treat the pain in an effective way.
