July News:
Happy Independence Day!!!
We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and a great celebration. How much courage it must have taken to declare independence!

Courage, as you know, is not the absence of fear, but the conquering of it. I am sure that the founding fathers faced an almost insurmountable amount of fear and adversity. They knew well that succeeding with their plan meant certain death for many who would fight for the realization of their idea. They also know that certain death was awaiting them and their families if they failed. Either way, people would die. They did not fold under the pressure. Knowing that this was the right thing to do gave them the courage to face the odds. Failure was not an option. Today we enjoy a life in abundance and freedom because of their courage to follow through.

The problems we are challenged with today are different. Our freedom is no longer suppressed by a ruler in a distant land but from within. What is the number one cause of death in America today? You are right, it is heart disease. A problem literally "at the heart" of our nation. This fight is not fought on the battlefield but in the kitchen and at the gym. This enemy we can not fight with a gun. This enemy is not one that will surrender. This is the enemy that could bring our nation to its knees. We have a problem with childhood obesity and the prevalence of Autism is 1 in 133. The generation growing up now will need ongoing care. Who will provide them with that care if we are getting older as well? This is not a question of who will pay for it but who will provide the care if everyone is "dependent" on receiving care. Maintaining our independence therefore has become a question of who will be healthy enough to remain "independent".

The good news is that we all have a choice. Eat healthy and hydrate with plenty of water. Exercise and get your body aligned to avoid degeneration. Pray and stimulate your mind and soul. Most of all do not worry about things you can not change but take action where you can.

As always it is my privilege to take this journey with you...

Rene

The Main Causes of Stress and How to Manage Them
Sharon Hwang

Do you ever feel like there is not enough time in the day? That you are being chased or in quicksand? We are in a land of information overload. We are caught up in a culture that When information is not managed, can become one of the main causes of stress in our lives. We live in a world that is extremely masculine. We value quick answers, saving time, productivity, and efficiency. We are a masculine culture that rewards working hard, pushing limits, and being constantly busy. These values have led many Americans to feeling like they are constantly under pressure or being chased.

Many Americans don't know what the best ways to relax are and have forgotten that stress and laughter are connected.

Americans are constantly in a state of flight or fight mode, which means that adrenaline is constantly being released into our bodies. This has led to adrenaline overload. We are using adrenaline as our main source of fuel. This is on of the main causes of stress in our lives.

When our bodies have too much adrenaline in our systems, it leads to adrenal failure or overload. So how does one manage staying out of this hyper vigilant state? Learning how to protect your adrenals and reducing your reliance on adrenaline, caffeine, and sugar is one of the first steps.

1) Get your adrenals tested. Go see a natural health care practitioner and have them test your adrenals.
2) Slowly start weaning yourself off or sugar, processed foods, caffeine, junk food and carbs.
3) Do a liver cleanse to remove toxins from your system and jump start your metabolism.
4) Get outside and take a brisk walk without any distractions, slow your mind down, leave the headphones and music at home.
5) Breathe! Deep breathing is a wonderful stress reducer. Bring your attention to breathing deeply and within your belly.
6) Schedule plenty of time around your meetings, so you have some down time throughout your day to play a little and laugh.
7) Laugh more. Do something goofy everyday, or watch something funny.
8) Learn to say no. Prioritize what is important to you and don't be a slave to your phone/schedule. Check your voice mail and e-mail twice a day.

Remember life is too short. If you burn out your adrenals today, you could potentially develop chronic fatigue or a chronic health issue for the rest of your life. Take time to find the best ways to relax that work for you. The main causes of stress in our society today revolve around constantly feeling like we need to stay busy. Foster more down time around you, do something that is creative, schedule a day where you have no engagements (you can do anything you want for the day with no time constraints). Laugh, the amount of laughing you do in a day effects your health. Stress and laughter are connected. Make sure to laugh and smile every day.
